Norton/Radstock Half Marathon

Womens Course Record Smashed in The Half

Tanith Maxwell Vito Graffignino A successful Norton/Radstock Half Marathon produced a new course record in the ladies race, and team wins for Somer A.C.
Tanith Maxwell stormed to a new course in the senior ladies race, recording an excellent time of 1:20:48 - over six minutes better than the previous record. To add drama to the day the winner of the men's race, Vito Graffagnino, was only 1 second outside the course record in the men's race!

Somer A.C. recorded a double win by picking up the Senior Men and Senior Ladies Team prizes. The Ladies team was made up of Claire Kelly, Rebecca Grunnill and Shelly Weeks and the Men's comprised Brian Penny, James Hall and Dan Blewitt. Congratulations to both teams - a great result.
The Funny Bones Fun Run attracted 100+ runners of all ages and types of running costumes!
The winner of the boys race was Max Shaughnessy in 10:24, with Carlo Baggio 2nd in 10:41.
Fiona Kingwill won the girls race in 12:23 with Jenny Diederich coming in 2nd in 12:38.
The 1st Primary School Team was High Littleton with Norton Hill School winning the Secondary School team prize.
Altogether a great day for everyone. Thanks must go to all the helpers on the day - you were brilliant. Spikeman.

The Course

Town Crier The start is in the Westfield Trading Estate, Midsomer Norton (approx. 800m from race HQ) and the finish is at Prattens Westfield Amateur Sports Club, Westfield, Midsomer Norton (Race HQ). The race consists of two laps and weaves in and out of Midsomer Norton & Radstock towns on public roads, providing an interesting and varied course including one short hill. There is full medical cover around the course and at the start/finish plus 4 water & sponge stations.

The course is not suitable for wheelchairs or walkers.

Awards

There will be prizes awarded in various classes and all finishers will receive a Norton/Radstock Half Marathon Momento. Prizes will be awarded for the winning club teams.
  • A £50 prize will be given to the male or female who breaks the course record for the Half Marathon (Course records: Women - 1:20:07, Men - 1:13:04).
  • All Fun Run finishers will receive a Fun Run Momento.

Race numbers and Final Details will be forwarded by mail the week before the race. Late entries will collect their numbers on the day. Please enclose a large S.A.E. Universal entry forms are accepted.

  • Half Marathon Club Runners: £10.50
  • Unattached runners: £12.50
  • Entries on the day: £2.00 extra
  • Fun Run £3.50
