Womens Course Record Smashed in The Half
A successful Norton/Radstock Half Marathon produced a new course
record in the ladies race, and team wins for Somer A.C.
Tanith Maxwell stormed to a new course in the senior ladies race, recording an excellent time of 1:20:48 - over six minutes better than the previous record. To add drama to the day the winner of the men's race, Vito Graffagnino, was only 1 second outside the course record in the men's race! Somer A.C. recorded a double win by picking up the Senior Men and Senior Ladies Team prizes. The Ladies team was made up of Claire Kelly, Rebecca Grunnill and Shelly Weeks and the Men's comprised Brian Penny, James Hall and Dan Blewitt. Congratulations to both teams - a great result. The Funny Bones Fun Run attracted 100+ runners of all ages and types of running costumes! The winner of the boys race was Max Shaughnessy in 10:24, with Carlo Baggio 2nd in 10:41. Fiona Kingwill won the girls race in 12:23 with Jenny Diederich coming in 2nd in 12:38. The 1st Primary School Team was High Littleton with Norton Hill School winning the Secondary School team prize. Altogether a great day for everyone. Thanks must go to all the helpers on the day - you were brilliant. Spikeman. The Course
The start is in the Westfield Trading Estate, Midsomer Norton
(approx. 800m from race HQ) and the finish is at
Prattens Westfield Amateur Sports Club, Westfield, Midsomer Norton (Race HQ).
The race consists of two laps and weaves in and out of Midsomer Norton & Radstock
towns on public roads, providing an interesting and varied course including one
short hill. There is full medical cover around the course and at the start/finish
plus 4 water & sponge stations.
The course is not suitable for wheelchairs or walkers.
