The Midsummer Madness

The 2006 Somer AC Midsummer Madness Pub Run will be held on Saturday, 8^th July at 10:30am. See Wooster or Ian Noad on club training nights for more information.

The first Somer A.C. Midsomer Pub Run took place on Sunday, 3^rd July 2005. It was organised due to the Axe Valley Runners Mid-summer Pub Run, in Seaton, being full up very early this year. So the feeling among Somer A.C. club members who have been to the Seaton event was that it was such good fun that we should put on our own - just for club members.

The run was approximately 14 miles in length with five pubs along the route. The objective was not to race but to enjoy a summer social run with 'refreshments' along the way! Fancy dress was optional!
Wooster kindly offered his home as a base to start from and Ian Noad organised the route with Steph and Bev sorting out the pubs on route. The weather was kind to us and ensured that plenty of liquid refreshment was taken on board at each watering hole!! Pubs on the route were: the Miner's Arms, Farrington Gurney; The King's Arms, Litton; The Ring O'Bells, Hinton Blewett; The Railway, Clutton and The Old Station at Hallatrow. Pre-ordered food was on hand at The Ring O'Bells at Hinton Blewett to sustain the weary athletes.
