Somer AC Juniors

We are soon approaching our Autumn / Winter training, which is held in Norton Hill sports hall and as some Juniors are aware it is much different from the Spring / Summer training.

The Gang
Bev Baggio, Jo James and Steph Hall show off their ‘race special’ tops to the Somer A.C. Juniors who gathered round to wish them well for their 32 mile Ultra Race on Dartmoor.
We always start our training sessions with a warm up around the sports hall, followed by some stretches. These are taken by qualified coaches Bev, Steph or Craig (CSLA Level 2).

All our sessions integrate running activities which include:

  • Relays
  • Sprints
  • Hill Reps
  • Bleep Test
Occasionally we also do a steady run of 1½ miles approx. We also do other activities in our sessions which include:
  • Circuit Training
  • Obstacle Relays
  • Basket Ball Shoot out
  • Team Games
  • And much more!
We sometimes manage to include a few fun games at the end of the session. We finish with a few stretches. (Sometimes a junior does this!).
We welcome all juniors from 9-16 years. We currently have 28 members and have 15 - 20 at least at each session.

Our training sessions are designed to keep children interested in fitness and also to be fun at the same time.

We have a team of coaches and helpers:

Managers are - Bev Baggio and Steph Hall
Helpers are - Nigel East, Craig Bridges, Becky and Brian Penny.
