The 2008 Miners Half Marathon Race was won by our own Daniel Stevens (Somer A.C.) in 1:13:40 and Clare Prosser (Wells City Harriers) in 1:34:50
The 10km was won by Tom Fisher 35:05 and Keirsten Rayneard in 42:36.
The Miners Half Marathon, (formally the
Norton/Radstock Half Marathon)
10k & Fun Run race takes place in the heart of the Old Somerset
Coalfields and offers a mixture of town and country running, over the
same course as in previous year's (Miners Mountain) incline! (Silver Street)
- A challenging hill for both the half and 10k, one lap for the 10k, two
laps for the half. The event also includes the Pitpath Fun Run on a new
course, 2 laps around the Sports Centre, approximately 2 miles.
The venue for the race is the
South Wansdyke Sports Centre,
Rackvernal Road, Midsomer Norton. Which has changing/showers & toilet
facilities for all runners, refreshments are provided at the
race HQ by Somer AC.
The course for the half and 10k is on tarmac roads around
Midsomer Norton & Radstock, undulating and scenic.
There are 5 water stations on route and 1 at the finish, also mile
markers and approximately 50 marshals. Medical cover is provided
by Paramedics from
All Wales Ambulance Services Ltd, communication
cover is provided by BANES Raynet Group, a risk assessment has
been carried out.
